If you are interested in working towards a more efficient and sustainable use of the natural environment while supporting small businesses in Asia then this website has been developed for you.
You will find information on the latest lessons and events on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) plus opportunities to meet and exchange with like-minded people and organisations.
The website is brought to you by the SWITCH-Asia Networking Facility which works closely with partnership projects co-funded under the European Union’s SWITCH-Asia programme. The Networking Facility seeks to raise the profile of SCP in general and share results and best practices among producers, consumers, and policy-makers in particular. In this way, we hope to contribute to the changes that are needed so urgently in the use of more efficient technologies and processes throughout the supply chain, and in consumer behaviour.
Dirk Meganck, Director of the EuropeAid Cooperation Office, sees strong reasons for implementing the SWITCH-Asia approach: "SWITCH-Asia was born out of the need to address issues like poverty alleviation, creation of green jobs, climate change mitigation and improved health standards. In a nutshell, the programme aims to 'switch' from unsustainable to sustainable patterns of development in Asian countries." Read more...
William Hanna, Head of Unit in the EuropeAid Cooperation Office, called the Switch Asia programme a flagship programme. He added: "SWITCH-Asia is built on some lessons we’ve learnt from the past, that it is important to scale up the successful demonstrations and to share the knowledge gained across different countries in Asia." Join Switch-Learn and help us create a database on available resources for developing SCP in Asia. For each of the 19 countries targeted by SWITCH-Asia you can upload available information about past or ongoing projects, on relevant SCP stakeholders in your region, or policies and guidelines supporting sustainable development. Once you have registered and received your log-in you can upload your information under the section SCP in Asia. The database will be a useful tool for the development of new projects, create better synergies among ongoing activities, and avoid duplication of common work and funding. Get your log-in for free...
