The overall objective of the action is to contribute to economic prosperity, poverty reduction and climate change mitigation in Bhutan by promoting sustainable tourism development. The specific objective is to promote sustainable production and consumption practices across the tourism value chain of Bhutan coupled with sustainable livelihood development.
The project's target groups are:
- More than 400 registered tour operators (TOs)
- More than 100 registered hotels and guest houses (including rural facilities)
- Registered tour guides (including rural communities)
- Restaurants
- Enterprises/cottage industries providing crafts, agri produce & trade supplies to the tourism sector, focusing on rural & disadvantaged groups
- Staff from key agencies including Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), Ministry of Economic
- Affairs (MoEA), Nature Recreation Eco-Tourism Division (NRED) Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Forestry (DOF), National Environment Commission (NEC), Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN), Hotel Tourism and Management Training Institute
