Greening Public Procurement

Public institutions consume large amounts of office consumables, furniture, electronic and electrical appliances, vehicles etc.  A more sustainable procurement policy by public institutions could has a huge impact on the demand for sustainable products and serves as a good example for general consumers. Still the majority of public institutions, worldwide, however still lacks effective green procurement policies.  

Green public procurement is an important area for the SWITCH-Asia Programme. The first project is already targeting this issue by helping local authorities establish better procedures for sustainable procurement.
