Further push for the uptake of SCP

The Policy Support Component of SWITCH-Asia has started to further boost the uptake of SCP; regionally working with UNEP and coordinated from their regional office in Bangkok (contact person: Stefanos Fotiou); and soon also at a country level in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines. The EU Delegations in those countries launched tenders to contract consortia to support the national ministries in those countries with their SCP plans.

High-level consultations ongoing

UN Headquarter in New York

High-level policy events have already taken place in Panama (January 2011) and in New York (February 2011) as preparation for  19th UN Commission on Sustainable Development in May in New York City. SWITCH-Asia was presented at the UN CSD as it is increasingly recognised globally as being one of the most important SCP programmes and is expected to continue to be so in the foreseeable future. The SWITCH-Asia Network Facility stages it’s own side event at the CSD.  The SWITCH-Asia Policy Component was presented during the event.
