The SWITCH-Asia II Programme

Launched in 2007 with funding from the European Union, the SWITCH-Asia I Programme achieved more than a decade of progress on sustainable consumption and production across Asia. Through three Programme components in its new phase, the work of SWITCH-Asia II is aimed at:

• Strengthening SCP policies in the region through policy support and advocacy
• Raising awareness among all stakeholders via outreach efforts
• Promoting best practices to ensure future sustained improvements in SCP patterns
• Building capacity of government offcials and other key stakeholders
• Enhancing dialogue on local and regional SCP priorities
• Enabling adoption of cleaner technologies and practices – particularly SMEs

Through these activities, covering 19 countries within the region, SWITCH-Asia II promotes sustainable growth, contributes to economic prosperity and poverty reduction in Asia, supports the development of a green economy and encourages climate change mitigation. This is enabled by the joint efforts of the Sustainable Consumption and Production Facility (implemented by GIZ, IGES and Adelphi), the Regional Policy Advocacy Component (implemented by UN Environment), the European Union Delegations and grant recipients.
