SWITCH products at European Development Days

We are happy to announce that at this year's European Development Days (EDD) you will have the chance to directly meet artisans associated to the EU SWITCH projects and see a great selection of crafted products from Asian, African and MENA region Micro-, Small and Medium sized enterprises (MSMEs).

In cooperation with SWITCH to Green, SwitchMed and SWITCH Africa, the SWITCH-Asia Network Facility is organising an exhibition stand and a project lab at this year's EDD to drive visibility for the beneficiaries of the SWITCH programmes.

The SWITCH exhibition stand - Building a global community of sustainable enterprises improving livelihoods

Wednesday & Thursday, June 7-8, 2017

Stand 12

EDD Global Village Map

Under the topic Sustainable Investment the Network Facilities of the EU SWITCH programmes in Asia, Africa and the MENA region, plus the SWITCH-to-Green Facility, will be represented at stand 12 of the EDD Global Village.

At this stand, products and services will be showcased that were created by MSMEs and communities with support from SWITCH projects promoting sustainable consumption and production. Projects will present products and services with increased sustainability, on which the artisans' and their families' livelihood rests, ranging from handcrafted textiles and rattan furniture of outstanding design to delicious food products. To increase interactivity with the visitors, women artisans will provide a live demonstration of the traditional crafting of selected products and answer questions on the sustainability of production.

The project lab - Business switch to green with innovative support services

Wednesday, June 7, 2017

18:00 to 19:15

In our project lab on engagement with the private sector to promote an inclusive green economy we will generate a lively debate about the transition to an inclusive green economy as a new model of development, based on experiences of the SWITCH programmes in Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean region, that will be shared by MSME managers from the field. The discussion on private sector collaboration approaches will range from enabling eco-entrepreneurship to providing MSMEs with technical assistance on SCP and to enhancing sustainable value chains – and how these can become more effective in the context of the inclusive green economy transition.

 Speakers:

- Ms. Nour Kays, NK by Nour Kays (SwitchMed Incubated Green Entrepreneur and Switcher)

- Mr. James Mwaura Muiruri, Champion Shoes and General Clothing Ltd (SWITCH Africa Green beneficiary)

- Mr. Vivekanand Mishra, GAYATRI PASHMINA INC. (SWITCH-Asia beneficiary)

The SWITCH project lab will be moderated by Mr. Alexander Charalambous from the SWITCH to Green Network Facility.
