The story of a Super Stove
The vast majority of Lao households use inefficient charcoal stoves and/or firewood burners for cooking. The inefficient burning wood and charcoal for cooking spews 5 tonnes of greenhouse gases per stove per year into the atmosphere. This can be reduced by 20% by cooking on clean stoves, with positive health impacts especially on women and children. The SWITCH-Asia project Improved Cook Stoves (ICS) is providing households with cost-saving, energy- and time-efficient cook stoves.
