SWITCH-Asia's eco-hotel programme

Green tourism has been selected as a particular focus area in the Indonesian national SCP strategy.
In this context, the SWITCH-Asia Policy Support Component for Indonesia launched an eco-hotel programme in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Tourism and Hotel associations to evaluate existing production practices in hotels in Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali and provide them with guidance on how to improve their operations and services in an environmental-friendly way. Star rated hotels are trained to support cleaner production by saving energy and water and reducing waste, with positive implications also on their reputation, market share and cost reduction.
In this video a participant to the program explains the value of this experience and the situation in the local industry.
