Bangladesh's Organic Mangoes
Safety in Bangladesh's fruit and vegetable sector has become an area of concern after news of contamination with pesticides, alteration, harmful colouring ingredients and preservatives. Many consumers have started thinking that local fruit and vegetable products are not safe.
In 2016 the SWITCH-Asia project Tomato and Mango Value Chain was launched, to reduce food contamination, improve consumer confidence and promote inclusive businesses in the tomato and mango processed food sectors.
This video illustrates how the project is engaging farmers, agro-food processing companies, consumers, national associations and public agencies to increase awareness about safer agricultural practices and support certification of safe tomato and mango products.
