WHO SHOULD ATTEND
SWITCH-Asia regional conference and networking event: “Advancing energy efficiency in Asia through SCP and green finance”
Energy efficiency is an important pillar for energy security in all Asian countries. It is also a crucial component of all national decarbonisation strategies and climate action. Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) offers various life cycle-based approaches to improve energy efficiency.
The approaches implemented by SWITCH-Asia projects include improving energy efficiency in SMEs via environmental management, closing loops through waste-to-energy solutions and improving energy efficiency on household level through appliance efficiency standards and labelling.
Furthermore, financing energy efficiency is an important element in promoting efficient energy use, especially in industries and buildings to create circular energy systems. In particular, SMEs have difficulties accessing finance to achieve energy efficiency. This challenge has been repeatedly stated by SWITCH-Asia projects. Indonesia, as the largest economy of the ASEAN has an important role in improving energy efficiency situation in Southeast Asia.
Indonesia's policies and initiatives relating to energy efficiency have impact not only on national level, but also the whole region. The Jakarta networking conference will bring together SWITCH-Asia project representatives with high-level policy-makers, energy efficiency experts and financial sector representatives to share best practices and discuss the way forward for energy efficiency in Asia.
Specific topics to be addressed by the event include:
- National policy frameworks for energy efficiency (Indonesia, Philippines, China)
- Energy efficiency in SMEs
- Challenges, opportunities & best practices from the SWITCH-Asia programme -
- Latest trends in financing for SME energy efficiency in Asia
- Closing the loop: waste-to-energy solutions
- Regional appliance efficiency standards and ASEAN free trade developments
- Energy efficiency for climate change mitigation
