SWITCH-Asia projects support producers that are actively seeking to improve the sustainability of their products. These producers aim to facilitate consumers’s needs who want to make greener choices. SWITCH-Asia projects are involved in promoting certification schemes in which a product, process, or management system is certified to meet specific social and environmental criteria, which were established by an assessment body. Eco-labels are set to create a market demand for more sustainable products, where their impact on society and environment can be measured.
Eco-labels are a well-known concept in Europe and now SWITCH-Asia projects are working to transfer the best practices from Europe to Asia. The awareness of environmental problems is growing in Asia and so is the need for reliable and transparent labelling schemes.
